Insurance FAQs.

Will my insurance pay for a full 100 days?
Medicare and Managed Care Benefits cover skilled nursing and/or rehab services for a period of up to 100 days. Please be aware that most people do not require these services for the entire 100 days. It is usually the health insurance companies along with the Nursing Home Interdisciplinary Team that will determine whether or not a resident meets the required skill level of care in order for Medicare/Managed Care to continue coverage up to 100 days.

Does my insurance cover my stay completely or will I be responsible for any payment?
Medicare pays the first twenty days in full; the remaining eighty days, if applicable, are paid through a combination of Medicare and secondary insurance. The secondary insurance pays the co-insurance days of $137.50 per day. If there is no secondary insurance, the resident would be required to pay the co-insurance privately. Managed Care, such as Secure Horizons and BlueCare 65, will pay for pre-authorized skilled and/or rehab services in full for the entire benefit period of up to 100 days, if indeed 100 days is deemed necessary.

If I am hospitalized due to an emergency situation during my stay at Wingate, will my insurance pay for my bed to be held at the facility?
Only MassHealth (Massachusetts Medicaid) will pay for 10 days of a bed hold. Otherwise, it would be up to the resident and/or family to pay privately in order to assure that a bed is available upon return.
